HAY is fortunate to have a committed Board of Directors who strive to ensure that the charity operates as effectively as possible. Currently, our Board of Directors is made up of the following people:
Andy Finlay (Chair) – A senior manager in the NHS with extensive operational management and project experience. He is passionate in ensuring service users are at the heart of everything we do and that their experience is key to our future successes. A former events manager and fundraiser for a small charity engaged with working with young people who have been left out of society either by choice or by other means; Andy understands that not every case is normal and most times we need to offer creative solutions for age old problems.
Jane Smith (Treasurer) – Jane is a chartered accountant with many years’ experience of helping small charities. She provides financial expertise and support to the board of directors and plays an active role in the management of HAY. She also acts as a school governor for three primary phase schools and has chaired their local governing body for a number of years. Jane is highly skilled in all areas of financial and forensic accounting and is currently the group accountant for a private equity firm. In her spare time, she enjoys watching Queens Park Rangers Football Club where she has been a season ticket holder for longer than she cares to remember.
Mary Longhurst – An experienced communications, marketing and public relations consultant with over 30 years of experience. A director and business owner with a broad and diverse range of industry experience, including animal health, FMCG, food and drink and consumer durables. Marketing and PR experience is supported by academic qualifications, including an MSc in Public Relations, an MBA and a PhD in CSR and its Communication in Multinational Companies in the UK and India.
Dr Amrit Sachar – Amrit has been an NHS consultant psychiatrist working in North west London since 2005. Her work is mainly in the area of integrating mental health into the management of long-term conditions, developing and delivering award winning services and training, as well as influencing and contributing to national policy in this area. She has extensive operational experience in managing NHS services and ensuring quality in the face of financial constraints. She has a particular interest in how communities can provide safe and nurturing environments for young people to thrive, which is what drew her to work with HAY’s excellent team. She is also on the Board of Trustees for an environmental charity in mid Wales that promotes eco-therapy especially for young people.
Cherryl Martin – Cherryl is an award-winning marketing, comms and business ops leader with 20+ years management experience working globally for blue chip multinationals, innovative tech start-ups, high-growth SMEs and ground-breaking third-sector charities. Now a business owner in her own right at Wonderland Ventures, Cherryl previously held senior corporate roles with FTSE 100 companies such as Barclays, Pearsons, Informa, Lehman Brothers and Viacom. A BA (Hons) graduate of Yale University with postgrad credentials from NYU, Cherryl is a Fellow of the Institute of Data and Marketing (The IDM). With husband Paul and miniature schnauzer Finn – Cherryl, a native New Yorker, now proudly calls West London home.
Ian Bryant – Ian is an enthusiastic IT Strategy leader with 25+ years management experience. The last 12 Years have been working within the NHS and he is currently responsible for the IT systems at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, working as the Deputy Director for IT. Prior to this Ian has worked in IT for large and small private organisations including Intel, and Kingston Technology. Along with the 25+ years of IT experience Ian has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Reading University. Ian lives in a village just West of London call Wraysbury, He has a wife and 2 daughters (15, and 17), In his spare time he runs a youth club in Staines and enjoys complex DIY.
